I met Charlie and Rachel when they booked me a few months before their wedding at the Walled Garden at Cowdray, in Midhurst, West Sussex. Their engagement shoot in London took place on what was easily in the rainiest and windiest weather I have yet shot in – but what fun it was and you can see here! Fast forward to the wedding day and the weather was perfect.
I drove down from London and hence arrived very early, so after a nice cup of coffee at a farm stall café around the corner from the church, I started off by photographing Charlie and some of the guests enjoying a drink at a local pub. Then we all made our way to the church and awaited Rachel and her bridesmaid’s arrival. Rachel looked absolutely stunning and Charlie was one very proud man as she was walked up the aisle by her father. After the service we all gathered on the lawn outside the church in the sun for a few family photos before the very short drive to the Walled Garden at Cowdray. It is a perfect venue for a nice relaxed wedding in beautiful surroundings, right next door to the spectacular Cowdray Ruins, to which we were granted access for a quick couple shoot.
After a drinks reception on the lawn, everyone made their way inside for the wedding breakfast followed by some of the most entertaining speeches I have heard in a good while! Being a cricket fan myself, I really enjoyed the theme and the table plan took the form of names written on a selection of mini cricket bats – brilliant. The cake cutting and first dance followed and then it was party time, with what seemed like everyone getting stuck in on the dance floor! As usual, just before wrapping up we popped outside and I took a few night time portraits before saying my goodbyes to Rachel and Charlie on what was a fantastic day from start to finish.
