I had been looking forward to being Linsey and Nathan’s Old Royal Naval College wedding photographer ever since they decided to book me. I’ve said so before and I’ll say it again, the Old Royal Naval College is not only one of the finest Greenwich wedding venues but one of the finest London venues in London for a wedding. Combine this with an amazing couple and I couldn’t ask for more.
I kicked off by photographing Linsey’s bridal preparation in her home and then made my way to the venue to get organised and await Linsey’s arrival. We then made our way to the King William Undercroft, which sits below the Painted Hall, via the underground tunnel which was great for avoiding anyone seeing us before the ceremony. After the ceremony we all made our way onto an outside terrace for a drinks reception, although with the wind absolutely howling we all went back inside after an hour or so, but not before capturing some relaxed photojournalistic shots and when the sun made an appearance, a few lovely couple portraits.
Then it was on to the reception, also held in the King William Undercroft. Since we had not yet done couple portraits due to the earlier weather, we decided to go outside and capture these shots after the first dance. This was fantastic as the light was very low and I used a combination of off-camera flash as well as sometimes just the available light, which made for more dramatic results than shooting in the daytime!
If you are getting married at the Old Royal Naval College, feel free to contact me for a chat about your requirements in further detail.
