I recently had the privilege of photographing Ljudmila and Leo’s Jewish wedding at the amazing Kew Gardens in London. As I have said numerous times before and I will say it again, I love photographing weddings at Kew Gardens! Ljudmila got ready at the nearby Petersham Hotel in Richmond, so I started the day off with capturing some of her bridal preparation before making my way to Kew for the wedding.
The ceremony was held in the beautiful Nash Conservatory which once again looked splendid. After the ceremony we all made our way outside for some quick group photographs before hopping on the provided golf buggy to whiz off for a couple shoot. With Kew being as vast as it is, even on a golf buggy it can take some time to get around so we decided to stay within an area not too far from the Orangery, where the reception was held.
The reception was filled with a series of highly entertaining speeches and lots of fantastic food. A while after the cake cutting first dance I invited Ljudmila and Leo outside for a couple of dramatic night time portraits which I love doing. The palm trees in the final image are usually inside the Orangery but were outside in the pitch dark, so along with lighting up the couple I also lit up these two trees to make a really cool image. It’s all a matter of using what one is presented with and making the most of it!
