It’s great photographing a wedding at a venue I haven’t photographed at before, so I was delighted when Toby & Divinia booked me for their Dulwich Picture Gallery wedding. What I like about this venue, compared to other more urban galleries, are the ample gardens surrounding the actual gallery, which gets well used during a wedding as long as it isn’t raining!
The reception itself was spectacular, with a long banqueting table decorated with huge flower arrangements running through the middle of the gallery, surrounded by all the old paintings.
To rewind a little, I started off covering Divinia’s bridal preparation at the De Vere Devonport Hotel in Greenwich – a venue I had photographed another wedding at recently quite recently. Then it was off to the Dulwich Picture Gallery for the ceremony and reception. A vintage old bus was hired to bring many of the guests to the venue, which I thought was a very nice touch!
After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawn outside before I whisked the couple away for some romantic couple portraits – as always, nice and relaxed and not too “posy” and also getting a lot of variety in a short space of time. A while later we all went inside and everyone enjoyed a fabulous dinner, as did my assistant and I. Probably the nicest meal I have ever eaten at a wedding – but then I am quite partial to a good piece of beef…
After the speeches it was party time and what a great time everyone had! Just before I left, I wrapped up with a few dramatic night time couple shots, which the couple had requested in advance. It only takes a few minutes but the results are very well worth it! Divinia and Toby were an absolute pleasure to work with!
If you are getting married at the Dulwich Picture Gallery I would be delighted to hear, so feel free to contact me for a chat about your requirements.
