I love shooting Sikh weddings! So I was delighted when Navneet & Rob booked me for their wedding photography which also included some pre-wedding events: the Mayan, ladies’ Sangeet and the Choora ceremony. When I arrived for the first event, I was met with one of the most welcoming and hospitable families one could hope for. Needless to say I didn’t depart hungry, quite the opposite!
On the morning of the wedding I arrived at Navneet’s family home to capture some photographs before making my way to the Gurdwara, which was at the Guru Nanak Sikh Academy in Hayes. After the arrival of the Barat, and performing of the Ardas by the priest it was time for the formal introductions of the families by way of the Milni ceremony where garlands were exchanged between the male members of each family. After tea and breakfast it was time for the ceremony.
We then made our way back to Navneet’s home for the Doli which included some highly entertaining bartering before Rob was allowed inside!
After the Doli there was a bit of downtime, so my assistant and I leisurely made our way over to Sunbeam Studios, in Ladbroke Grove, for the reception. Sunbeam Studios, which is actually a photography and film studio, is a really nice venue for any type of wedding reception. Ample room and three halls which were all decorated with great care and detail – very impressive indeed.
After some great food and fabulous speeches we all moved over to the central hall for the first dance followed by lots of partying into the night.
I have included a selection of photos from not only the wedding, but a few from the pre-wedding function as well. I hope you enjoy them. Navneet and Rob looked totally amazing and were an absolute joy to work with!
